Jefe’s Sunday Celebration Song: Because He Lives

When I was very small, my mom used to sing this song around the house a lot.  My sister and I loved to sing this song as well, not just because of our mom but because the lyrics rang a truth that we still believe in.  Because He Lives has been covered by many artists from different genres of music.  I picked this cover because I dig Michael Tait (of DC Talk).  George Beverly Shea does the honors on the opening verse.

God sent His son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal, and forgive.
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

And then one day I’ll cross the river,
I’ll fight life’s final war with pain.
And then as death gives way to victory,
I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know He lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.
